In 2006, I first sat down to play the Business Strategy Game. Uncertain and somewhat intimidated by this complex program, I made my decisions on a floppy disk and handed it to my professor for him to “run” the simulation. Despite my straightforward strategy, I won first place on my very first attempt. I spent hours and hours learning to play this game, and by the end of my first class, I was a proficient master. I did a block transfer of credits to a university, where I was told to play the Business Strategy Game again. Despite my protestations for retaking the class, I was told it was a 4th-level capstone class and the new version of “BSG Online.” I secondly won the BSG with increased strategic sophistication and tactical maneuvering. I was invited into the Grand Championship in 2007, and despite it being a close match, I was able to pull off a win for the third time.

 

For nearly 20 years, I have made it my personal goal to understand the Business Strategy Game. My knowledge of the game allows me to see companies' strengths and weaknesses upon sight. And I can quickly disassemble rival companies' strategies to find ways to get ahead. I have privately coached 1000s of students over the years and helped new players succeed in the BSG.
